District 15 Solo/Ensemble Festival

The Oregon Music Education Association holds a performance each spring for Middle and High School students to perform music and receive feedback from professionals in their field. Vocalists and instrumentalists of all backgrounds come together for the day, and a host high school is transformed into a gallery of musical expression. This includes individual performances and larger ensembles, such as choir and band.

Collaborative pianists work with vocalists and instrumentals of various backgrounds, often combining multiple types of performances on the same day. There are often several festivals operating simultaneously in the same region; this becomes a challenge for scheduling on all fronts, as the same pianists are often asked to accompany at multiple events on the same day.

NATS Classical Auditions

The National Association of Teachers of Singing holds an event of classical performances each winter. Soloists perform up to 3 pieces, adjudicated by vocal professionals in their local area, giving them the chance to experience an audition environment and receive useful feedback they can use to grow. This year the event is at University of Portland

Collaborative pianists make the trek to the host school, often reserving the whole day to be flexible for the performance time of multiple students. This year David will be accompanying 4 students.
